Most women want smooth legs, but do price and hype really set hair removers apart? Initially, I was interested in trying the VEET® Rasera® Bladeless™ Kit after seeing their commercial while I was watching television. You can visit their website at http://www.veet.com and view their latest ad. While I was shopping for another bottle of VEET® Rasera®, the Sally Hansen® Extra Strength Hair Remover Lotion caught my eye with a little yellow tag on their bottle that said New Value Size. Their website can be visited by going to http://www.sallyhansen.com. The following is my opinion and comparison after using each product. You can check the official website of Veet to know more about the product.
The VEET® Rasera® Bladeless™ Kit includes a 5.1 fluid ounce spray can of moisturizing gel cream and a bladeless razor. It comes in four different scents: Aloe Vera, Floral Sensation™, Fresh Sensation™, and Dewberry. On the front of the can it advertises 3-minute hair removal. The directions on the back of the can say to test a small area with the bladeless razor after waiting 3 minutes and if the hair does not come off easily to leave the gel cream on for a maximum of 6 minutes. VEET® advertises that it’s products, including the VEET® Rasera® Bladeless™ Kit will leave your legs soft and smooth without dryness or stubble for twice as long as shaving with a razor.
I purchased the Fresh Sensation™ VEET® Rasera® Bladeless™ Kit for about $7.00 at Wal-Mart. Because I have used this hair remover in the past, I did not do a test patch 24 hours before using the product even though the precautions state that you should patch test a small area before each use. I followed all of the other directions for use and after using the Fresh Sensation™ VEET® Rasera® gel cream I did not suffer any adverse skin reactions.
After applying a thick even layer to both legs, I waited 3 minutes and then tested a small area with the bladeless razor to see if the hair would come off easily. A few strands of hair came off easily, but a few other strands of hair in the same area stayed. I waited another minute and tested a small area again. After 5 minutes had passed I was satisfied that all the hair would be able to be removed easily using the bladeless razor. The bladeless razor is shaped like a razor. Where the blades should be are 2 strips of rubber and a strip of what appears to be a skin softener. The gel cream had to constantly be rinsed and wiped from the bladeless razor so that the rubber strips could make contact with the skin so that the hair could be removed. Because the gel cream is thicker than shaving cream, it took a little longer to rinse the razor than if I had been shaving with a razor.
As for leaving my legs soft and smooth without dryness or stubble for twice as long as shaving with a razor, my legs definitely felt moisturized longer. However, the stubble returned in the same amount of time it would have taken had I shaved with a razor. The Fresh Sensation™ VEET® Rasera® Bladeless™ Kit only provided me with enough product for 2 uses.
Sally Hansen® Extra Strength Hair Remover Lotion comes in a 10 fluid ounce bottle and is available in 3 scents: Blue Raspberry; Tangerine Dream; and Watermelon. The front of the bottle advertises 3 minute hair removal and that it reduces the appearance of hair regrowth. The back of the bottle says to test a small area after 3 minutes and if the hair is not easily removed to leave the lotion on for no longer than 10 minutes. It says that it is especially good on coarse, hard to remove hair and the results last days longer than shaving.
I purchased the Tangerine Dream Sally Hansen® Extra Strength Hair Remover Lotion for about $3.50 at Wal-Mart. The bottle cautions to test a small area of the skin 24 hours before each use. I had not used this product in the past so I did perform a test to make sure I would not have any adverse skin reactions. After waiting 24 hours, there was no redness or irritation. I followed the directions and applied a thick layer of lotion over both of my legs and waited 3 minutes. I then tested a small area by wiping off the lotion with a washcloth. The hair was easily removed. I stepped in the shower and wiped the rest of my legs off with the washcloth while rinsing my legs with water from the shower.
The results did not last for days, but my legs were not stubbly for longer than if I had shaved with a razor. Normally within a day after shaving, I have black dots on my legs from hair regrowing. Sally Hansen® Extra Strength Hair Remover Lotion did reduce the appearance of hair regrowth and I didn’t see any black dots until the third day after using the product. I was able to remove the hair from my legs, bikini area, and armpits 5 times with Sally Hansen® Extra Strength Hair Remover Lotion.
Based on my experience with both products, the Fresh Sensation™ VEET® Rasera® Bladeless™ Kit is twice the price and twice the hassle for results that can be obtained twice as quick by shaving with a razor. Sally Hansen® Extra Strength Hair Remover Lotion not only is a better value, it also does what it advertises it will do.
